what happens to your past?

February 27, 2011

What happens to your past?

Do you tuck it away in your pocket...

Stuff it in an old shoe?

Hang it from the rearview mirror

Always keeping it in plain view?

Have you swallowed it

like a piece of gum

Years passing before the memory begins to fade?

Or stuck it under the table

Trying to forget the foundation laid?

Does it outshine the sun?

Outglow the moon?

Or fall like shooting stars

that lost their hope to soon?

Do you bury it in a blanket?

Or hang it from the sill?

Try to outrun it?

Attempt to keep it still?

Is there pride

Is there shame

Were there joys

Was there pain

Should we discuss it over tea?

Or toss it to the sea

Never to be seen again?

Welcome to the Mind of meek.

I am a queer, southern-born, bay area livin healer trying to make sense of the world around me but committed to starting with the self.

Things I value most include my community, delicious gf food, conscious consumerism, laughing until my belly hurts, Netflix documentaries, and conversations about health and healing in communities of color.

Thanks for following my journey.
